Preparing for Your New Roof Installation

In general, we will be on site for just one to two days. However, if you have a steep roof or a large home, it can take up to three or four days. During the roof installation, there will be vehicles and equipment on your property. Also, because of the noise and busyness, some homeowners may want to consider having excitable pets put in daycare or taken elsewhere during installation.

The Roof Installation Process

First, we will remove the old shingles, underlayment, flashing, and nails. We begin at the top ridge of your home and work our way down. As needed, we will make repairs to the boards or plywood that we’re applying roofing materials to in order to ensure your new roof is built on a solid foundation. We will also repair any damage, warping, or rot. After everything is removed, we will install metal edging and underlayment. For the shingle installation, we use galvanized nails to prevent rust, beginning at the bottom of the roof and working upward in horizontal rows with an overlap to prevent leaks. Flashing around vents, pipes, chimneys, and any skylights are installed. Your roofers will then install the ridge vent and ridge caps. Finally, we will clean up your yard, leaving no trace that we were there!
